Tara Dougan-Price has a comprehensive history in fine arts. Her creative energy began to evolve in high school where she discovered her love for pottery. After studying at Lynn University in Florida, she wanted to begin her career working in ceramics. She traveled to the Ozark Mountains of Missouri to study under Master Potter, Ken George. While in the great Ozarks Tara allowed her surroundings enrich her love for art. She studied color concepts, learned how to mix custom glazes, and experienced firing a wood burning kiln at 2300 degrees. After returning to the northeast, Tara studied at the Finishing School in Floral Park, NY and at the location in Mechanicsburg, PA. It was at the Finishing School where Tara encompassed the art of decorative painting and found her niche in the world of design. After completing many courses at the finishing school Tara decided to build her company, Of The Essence Designs. She believes that innovative design, rich colors and textures, and subtle elegance are the “Essence” of a room. Her love for artistic surroundings and her desire to keep abreast of this ever changing industry, make Of The Essence Designs a leader in the trade of decorative painting.

Tara’s diverse life experiences and years of working with a wide variety of artistic mediums have left her with a lust for creating exquisite and stimulating environments. From traditional to contemporary design, Tara can produce a tasteful and unique work of art that is personal to her clients.
